Where is a good place to purchase a diamond?

Just the diamond. I've found plenty of places that have settings I like, but I'm not sure about what the prices of the diamond itself should be. I'm looking for a reliable place that has fantastic prices. Any suggestions out there?

My boyfriend was given a ring that belonged to his stepfather's late wife. It's absolutely gorgeous, but the stone was removed. We are working together to become engaged, and we want to find a diamond together. Where do we start with all the appraisals, rock shopping, resizing, etc?

We purchased a loose diamond and the setting from a local jeweler. What is the average price to have the ring put together. The band was 970 and he said to have is set it will be 1200. Does that sound about right or too much?

My fiance and I have picked out a setting, and just want to see if the diamond we MIGHT get is worth $1300. It's .72, VS1, H clarity, very good cut.
